The Art Of Tropical Living

May 4th, 2009

In the 1960's all local houses consisted of very basic constructions, foreigners rented rooms in family inns (losmen). Shortly after trendy Sanur was the first area that attracted more sophisticated buildings, usually under supervision of western designers and architects.
Around 1980 the situation started to be influenced strongly by western business people that came to Bali frequently enough to build their own house. These houses and villas somehow took some traditional Balinese essentials to blend with imported Western standards. Although there was suddenly the comfort of a western bathroom, the bottom line was usually a lack of professional competence in an overall architectural context.
Starting around 1990 the present situation started to emerge: Elements of Balinese architecture like thatched materials for the roof or carved doors are used in a modern context and in combination with the Western tradition of comfortable furniture and furnishings.
That is not a general evolution of the "Bali style" it is rather used as reinterpretation in a decorative and usually aesthetic way. Many Westerners have build their Balinese dream home based on a mixture of Western comfort and Asian styles.
The indoor-outdoor living style is dominant to express the best possibilities the tropical climate has to offer. Natural materials used are wood, alang-alang, bamboo, stone, glass and ceramics.
The traditional Balinese way to construct buildings followed very strict rules of shapes and sizes, also positioning and orientation was absolutely predetermined. Constructing a building is guided by religious motives not by practical or designer aesthetics. Therefore it is originally not an art form but religious ritual.
The latest development is however an extracting of Balinese designs to merge with new international styles in an artistic way, giving birth to a new Bali style.
Now designers are getting creative in an unpreceded way to redefine this so typical local art of tropical living in a new, internationally valid way that possibly will set the trend for years to come.

The Art Of Spanish Travel

May 4th, 2009

If you have a desire to see some of the best art in Spain, look no further than the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia on Calle Santa Isabel 52. Among the masterpieces hanging on the walls are works from Solana, Miro and Picasso.
One of the most famed pieces of the hundreds of works hanging on the walls of the Queen Sofia is Picasso's Guernica. That joined with the other works have ranked this museum's modern art collection as one of the most important not just in Spain, but in all off Europe.
When one thinks of modern art, they also usually think of that art being housed in a very modern gallery. This is not the case with the Queen Sofia. The building was constructed in the 18th century. It's life was to end in the 1970's, with a date to be demolished, but it was then declared a historic monument and preserved, then turned into a museum.
Not only is the building a place to view great works, it also offers a great view of the city. The building has transparent framed elevators that you will travel on as you go to the gallery. From the elevator, you can get a fabulous view of Madrid.
Once you step out of the elevator, your art experience is underway. First, you will encounter a selection of Solana artworks including The Circle of the Cafe Pombo, The Meeting of the Pharmacy, and The Chorus Girls. While these are more modern of pieces, the collection runs the range from the late 19th century to modern day works.
There is an ample collection of Miro in the museum, which is a very popular attraction with the crowds who come in. The collection includes Escargot, Femme, Man With A Pipe, Fleur, and Femme et Oiseau Dans La Nuit (Woman and Bird in the Night). These works were painted in the 20s and 30s in Barcelona.
Another very popular series of works in the museum are those of Dali. Included at the Queen Sophia are By the Light of the Moon from 1927, the 1945 portrait Galarina, and his 1951 and 1955 Crucifixion paintings.
Of course, many are drawn to the several Picasso pieces housed in the museum. They may not be what many would expect from a Picasso assortment. Included in this collection is his 1896 First Communion , which has a young Picasso painting in a very academic style. In addition, the 1901 Woman In Blue also shows some of his younger work.
You begin to see Picasso's cubist style in the 1907 Las Seсoritas de Avignon . Eye catching is the 1937 Guernica painting, which displays Picasso's impression of a bombing of this town.
The Queen Sophia collection is not limited to paintings. The collection also includes over 46,000 square yards of exhibition area which houses a number of pieces of porcelain, glass, pottery and other works of art. In addition, there is a library for studies and research into artworks, as well as a cafeteria once you work up an appetite from your travel through the vast halls.

The Appeal Of Taking A Honeymoon Cruise

May 4th, 2009

One of the most stressful and chaotic times of anyone's life is the planning of their wedding. Making the guest list, getting registered at stores, delegating tasks to family and friends, planning the ceremony and reception and a hundred other little details to attend to, it's no wonder planning a wedding can push most people to the breaking point. After all the planning and the successfully pulling off the wedding it's no wonder that newlyweds need a honeymoon to unwind and spend their first moments together as a couple together alone. A honeymoon cruise can be the perfect way to leave all that behind and give the happy couple the privacy and solitude they desire.
Probably the greatest thing about a honeymoon cruise is the sense of utter isolation the newlyweds can experience. There is little chance of an intrusion from the outside world when the cruise ship is hundreds of miles offshore giving the newlyweds the opportunity for time alone. All of the stresses of life can be left behind with little chance of interruption by even the most well intentioned friends and family. Cruising the clear blue waters of the tropics is the perfect way for a newlywed couple to isolate themselves from the rest of the world. With little chance of even cell phones working the chances of the outside world intruding on their time is limited. Getting away from it all is definitely a plus on a honeymoon cruise.
During a honeymoon cruise the happy couple has the option of mingling with other people and making new friends or they can spend time to themselves enjoying the amenities and activities cruise ships are famous for. There's an activity for just about everyone on board, from games on deck and pool side, to dancing, movies and nightly entertainment. In addition to all the onboard fun there are tropical ports of call where the couple can lose themselves in sightseeing and other tourist fare.
When talking about taking a honeymoon cruise we cannot let the subject of food to be left out. After all, food is what cruises are most famous for. And all that food, whether it's fine dining, a burger pool side, a quick snack, or even room service is included in the price of the cruise. The newlywed couple can eat whatever they want whenever they feel like it. And for the newlyweds who spend a lot of time in their stateroom getting food at odd hours is a big plus.
Taking a honeymoon cruise can be the perfect getaway after the craziness of a wedding. Finding a cruise package that fits your budget is as easy as using the power of the internet to check the offerings of the many cruise lines in the world today.

The Amazing Wine Tours Project

May 4th, 2009

Tourism is big business these days. It is such a large part of many economies that some towns and cities would be absolutely devastated financially without it. Tourism accounts for a lot of the business generated by the wine industry these days, especially where the concept of wine tours is concerned. As a result, the wine tours project has recently been developed to help wineries by generating business for them and for wine lovers who want to book wines tours to visit various vineyards and enhance their experience. A lot of the wine tours project's tours will actually match wineries with similar elements and factors in common, the type of grape for example.
Wine Tours Project Management
The wine tours project has the potential to be absolutely huge. I would go as far as to say that it has the potential for global success because of its management strategies. It will be placed under expert supervision so that their working knowledge of wines and wineries will shine through. However, the wine tours project must also include a good deal of imagination in order for it to work. Themed tours or those with fun activities will do better than staid and mundane tours that would only turn the visitor away, or send them to sleep! Every individual tour on the wine tours project list will be interesting and capture the attention of the individual.
The main suggestion put forward by the wine tours project was in conjunction with the materials of wineries - the grape. Various wineries will use the very same types of grape but with very different end results and that has the potential to be absolutely fascinating. It is a fact that grapes will give a distinct wine if processed in a particular way in a specific location. This gives rise to a tour about that grape and thus visiting the wineries that process it. The wine tours project can also be seen as somewhat of an adventure as a result because you could feasibly travel to various locations all over the world to see the different results. The one grape may be processed in California, New York, Australia and Bordeaux. No true wine fan would ever want to miss out on an opportunity like that! For more info see http://www.bestwinetourguide.com on Best Wine.
Regional Wine Tours Projects
Very few of the wine tour project tour idea are located in various areas around the world. The majority are actually regional so that people can visit a few wineries every day. The range of tours in one region alone can be huge, but the different ones will give an individual several different experiences to take away from their break. In this way, the wine tours project certainly lends itself to the wine enthusiast's thirst for both wine and knowledge. Every tour is truly and adventure and proves that the idea behind the wine tours project was actually a major brainwave!

The Al Bustan Palace Hotel Oman

May 4th, 2009

The Al Bustan Palace Hotel Oman is one of the finest hotels in Muscat Oman, and is a serene oasis of style, grandeur and hospitality.
The Al Bustan Palace is the leading Oman beach hotels resorts, and is one of the finest hotels of its kind in the Middle East.
It stands in 200 acres of palm shaded gardens, beneath a rugged mountain backdrop, with a large sweep of beach next to the clear blue waters of the Indian Ocean. The hotel is designed to replicate the rich culture of architecture in Oman.
Only 40 minutes drive from the airport, and 10 minutes from Muscat, the Al Bustan Hotel is ideally placed for a beachside vacation, or exploring Oman.
I am very pleased to have found the Al Bustan Palace Hotel Oman, it has been a real find, from the attentive staff, to the dйcor, and the sheer comfort. It is easy to see why the Al Bustan Palace is rated as one of, if not the finest of the Oman hotels resorts.
We stayed in an Arabian Junior Suite which was very spacious and beautifully decorated, with amazing views of the sea, the mountains and the lovely gardens. They have a lovely beach. Canoes, boats etc are available
Everything you could need or want had been catered for, we really felt totally spoilt, nothing seemed to be too much trouble for the extremely attentive staff.
To view photographs go to http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com/articles/6/1/Al-Bustan-Palace-Hotel-Oman/Page1.html
I stay in top hotels routinely, but I have slept in some shockingly uncomfortable beds in my time, but the bed was probably the most comfortable hotel bed ever!!
In terms of meals at the Al Bustan Palace, we were impressed from the sheer scale of the hot and cold dishes at breakfast to the stylish restaurants serving delicious food.
It is the little touches that can make or break a holiday, and the complimentary cool box on the beach was just fantastic. It had bottles of mineral water, ice, ice cold flannels, and a cool spray - quite magnificent when you have chosen high summer and 40 degrees for your vacation!!
I will definitely return to The Al Bustan Palace, although my return will be delayed by the refurbishment in 2007.

The Airport Of Murcia And How To Get Around

May 4th, 2009

Murica airport is an air base and civilian airport. The airport is not located in the city of Murica. It is located in San Javier, which is seventeen miles south of the city of Murica. The airport is operated by the Spanish airport authority. The runways are able to handle a variety of planes. The largest planes it can handle are Boeing 757 or 767 airplanes.
The airport has grown in the past ten years from a very small operation to a much larger airport offering international flights. This growth has resulted in more choices in flights and airlines. The airport has gotten much more popular with tourists visiting the southern areas of the Costa Blanca. Many of these flights originate in the United Kingdom.
Flights into Murica Airport
A variety of large and discount airlines fly into this airport from all over the world. Most of the travellers are visiting the southern area of the Costa Blanca, including Torrevieja. As the airport increases in popularity, airlines expand their offerings. This gives travellers more choice in flights and discount fares.
A number of charter airlines use this airport. It's a popular destination for charter groups. These are generally used by larger groups of people travelling together to the Costa Blanca region. A travel agent can help you with information about charter groups and airlines.
This airport is becoming busier recently. As a result more low cost airlines are operating at the airport. The passengers using this airport have increased ten fold since 1995. Currently, approximately 848,000 people fly into Murica each year. This number continues to grow each year.
In response to this increase in traffic, the terminal was expanded in 2004. The terminal now includes car hire companies, five new airport shops and additional luggage carousels. Further expansion is planned in the future. There is some talk about a new airport at some future point as demand continues to increase.
Transportation from Murica Airport
Once you have arrived at the Murica airport, you will need to arrange for transportation to your final destination. There are not bus or train routes at the airport. You will need to arrange for a car hire, airport transfer or take a taxi. It's best to think about the method of transportation you will use before you arrive in Murica. Car hire or airport transfer should be reserved in advance.
You can arrange for a car hire at the airport. Four companies operate at the airport: Centuaro, Europa, Eurocar and Solmar. These are all located in the main terminal building. A car hire is a good choice for convenience and flexibility. Compare prices on the internet to get the best deal. Always reserve your car before you leave home to get the best deal and to ensure availability.
Taxis are located outside the terminal building. They are generally lined up waiting for passengers. You may have to wait a short time for a taxi. Murica isn't a large airport and the wait for a taxi generally isn't very long. Taxis can carry a maximum of four people, so plan accordingly. The cost depends on the destination. The further you are travelling the more expensive the fare.
Airport transfers are the easiest and most cost effective way to travel. Transfers are available to train stations and larger cities. You must book this in advance. Reserve your space directly with the company. This can be done through a travel agent or with the company. An airport transfer company can handle families or groups of up to fifty people. This option is better than a taxi for larger families or groups.
